กฎการใช้ May Might
1.ใช้กับการพูดถึงการมีโอกาสของบางสิ่งบางทีอาจเป็นจริงหรืออาจจะเกิดขึ้น เช่น
We may take a day off next week.He might call me tonight.
2. might ไม่ได้เป็น past ของ may เราจะใช้ might เมื่อเรามีโอกาสที่น้อยกว่า may เช่นI may go to visit my parents in this weekend. (บางทีโอกาสจะเป็น 50%) Jane might go with me. (บางทีโอกาสจะเป็น 30% )
3.การใช้ may/might กับ have ใช้แสดงการคาดคะเนที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นในอดีต may/might + have +V3She may have gone out when I phoned her.
A: I can't find my book.
B:You might have left it at school.
4. ใช้ may might ในการขออนุญาตเช่นMay I sit here?I wonder if I might have another cup of coffee?
5. ใช้ may ในการอนุญาตและไม่อนุญาตเช่น Children may not play alone in the pool.
A: May I turn the TV on?
B: Yes, of course you may.

ข้อแตกต่างระหว่าง May - Might - Maybe
May แปลว่า "จะ" ใช้เป็นเงื่อนไขแล้วแต่คุณจะเลือก เช่น You may resubmit your pettion with a new fee. แปลว่า "คุณจะยื่นคำร้องพร้อมค่าธรรมเนียมใหม่อีกครั้งก็ได้" คือเป็นเงื่อนไขซึ่งแล้วแต่คุณ จะยื่นใหม่ก็ทำได้ จะไม่ยื่นใหม่ก็ได้แต่เรื่องมันก็จะจบลงตรงนั้น ก็แล้วแต่คุณจะเลือกคือเขาไม่ได้บังคับว่า "คุณจะต้อง"

might แปลว่า "อาจจะ" มีความหมายไม่แน่นอน เช่น It might get there by Friday. มันอาจจะไปถึงภายในวันศุกร์ก็ได้นะ คืออาจจะถึงหรือไม่ถึงก็ได้ ไม่มีความแน่นอน It might be good, you'll never know. "มันอาจจะดีก็ได้นะ ไม่มีทางที่คุณจะล่วงรู้ได้หรอก"

maybe เป็นคำกริยาช่วย มีความหมายว่าที่ไม่แน่นอนแปลว่า "บางที" หรือ "อาจจะเป็นไปได้" เช่น Maybe I will go out tonight. "บางทีฉันจะออกไปเที่ยวคืนนี้" คือยังไม่แน่นอนว่าจะไปหรือไม่ อาจจะไปหรือไม่ไปก็เป็นไปได้ทั้งสองอย่าง

may be เป็นคำกริยามีความหมายว่า "อาจจะเป็นไปได้" I may be going out tonight. แปลว่า "อาจจะเป็นไปได้นะ ว่าฉันจะออกไปเที่ยวในคืนนี้"ใช้ may be เป็นคำโดดๆได้เช่น ตอบว่า "May be" ="อาจจะ"

Example:
May / Might + infinitive (possibility)

Example:
- We might have a picnic tomorrow, but it depends on the weather.
- I might not go to the party, I haven't decided yet.
- I may go to the party, but I'm not sure.
- I may not have time to do everything today.

* Use might / may and might not / may not+infinitive to talk about a future possibility.
(It might /may rain. = it's possible that it will rain.)
* Might /May (not) is the same for all person, I might /may,
he might / may, we might/may etc.

!!! You can also use May I..../ May we ...to ask for permission.
example: May i use your phone? (= can i use your phone.)
